Anslee hasn’t exactly been making the best of decisions when Raileigh caught her and Kaidan. Now that Raileigh had stormed out of the room and went who only knows where. It was a huge fuss. Astrid had left with Raileigh. Anslee looked towards Kaiden. Surely he must feel some kind of way with his wife taking off with his daughter. To say Anslee didn’t envy her youngest sister would be a lie. She was married to a successful lawyer, had a little girl and they seemed happy. But Anslee has always wanted Kaidan, even before the marriage. Now that she had, this was a down right mess. Anslee wasn’t sure if she wanted to apologize to her sister or lover/brother-in-law. Yeah that would probably run it all in their face. Wrapped up in her pajamas and bathrobe after a much need shower, she hooked her arms around Kaidan and hugged him from behind. “Tell me what you need right now.” Very much different from the time that has earlier given her sister a proverbial face slap. Kaidan didn't know how he should feel. Kieran was the one who took the time to think things through – he, on the other hand, just jumped in headfirst and dealt with the consequences later. Kaidan laced up his shoes, as he considered running out the door after Raileigh, but no amount of apologizing would fix this. He couldn't repair the damage done to their marriage. One misstep – a moment of weakness – and Kaidan could see it crumbling around him. The arms wrapped around him provided some measure of comfort. Kaidan looked back over his shoulder at the woman standing behind him. There were no easy solutions, but something about this felt like it could work. He closed his eyes – almost as if he were drawing strength from her. "I need you. Stay with me, Anslee."Kaidan brought his hand to Anslee's thigh, his thumb subconsciously stroking against the bathrobe's soft fabric. He let out a deep breath. This isn't the way he saw today going. If Anslee knew her sister well enough, this wasn’t going to be some sort of smooth transition. This was going to be hell for Kaidan when it came to custody of Astrid; but she also knew that Raileigh and Paislee were close. It wouldn’t be long and she would be a black sheep. Dad’s favorite but still the black sheep. “I’m not going anywhere.” Anslee assured him. No, they were going to need each other to lean on through whatever mess Raileigh was getting ready to make. She’d already promised divorce papers; but Anslee had pretended she wasn’t listening to that conversation but she’d heard every word. Full custody, divorce, and child support were not words anyone wanted to hear. Anslee had a hunch that her sister wasn’t going to just lay down the proverbial sword she was holding either. Raileigh was a fighter. Anslee didn’t think she could live up to what Raileigh had been for Kaidan but he was going to need someone in his corner through all this mess. To be fair, she really did care. To her this wasn’t just some one and done thing. Anslee could still smell her perfume still lingering on Kaidan’s neck. She continued to hug him tight and pecked softly at his neck. “That wasn’t what I was after you know.” Though she knew Kaidan wasn’t one for words but she also knew that he couldn’t be completely void of feeling or detached from the situation. His daughter was involved, she knew even if Kaidan and Raileigh had their differences that Astrid meant the world to him. And knowing Raileigh that child was about to be a legal weapon. Kaidan could speculate what the ramifications of today would be. A divorce – a bitter, ugly battle in the courtroom – figured to be just the beginning. A settlement would be easier on everyone, but both he and Raileigh were fighters – neither were about to back down from what came next. At least Kaidan hadn't screwed up with Anslee. Since the yelling started, she hadn't strayed far from his side. His fragile emotional state didn't allow for a big smile, but his lips did curl into the faint impression of one. His response, no doubt, sounded wooden, but it was genuine. "That means more than you know."As Anslee continued to kiss at his neck, Kaidan opened his eyes, looking over his shoulder. He had no idea where this was headed – where they were headed. Kaidan could use some definitive answers right now. After all, he wasn't the only one to jump headfirst into this. "What were you after then?"Maybe, Kaidan hoped, with some answers, he could find a way to not just move forward but to accept what had happened. It might be a tall order, but he didn't have a lot of options. Kaidan turned to face Anslee. Part of being a good attorney was being able to read people. He needed to see how she responded.
